SILICON VALLEY HUMANE SOCIETY

November 16th, 2007

The Silicon Valley Humane Society is a shelter for dogs, cats, and rabbits. They provide many services for the animals like vaccinations, spay and neuter, emergency treatment, housing, animal care, euthanasia, adoptive programs, and more.

The Silicon Valley Humane Society has been around since 1929 taking care of animals. They are responsible for finding homes for half a million animals. They are nonprofit and are not funded by any government funds. They accept donations from private people, organizations, and earn money from events and things. They have a staff of approximately 350 volunteers and paid workers.

If you surrender a pet to the shelter, they accept animals 24 hours a day, every day of the week. There is a fee to bring an animal to the shelter if it is your pet and that is $115 for a cat or a dog and $50 for rabbits. If you bring in an entire litter of animals, then the prices may vary. There is no guarantee your animal will be adopted. About 350 animals are adopted a month.

When you adopt a cat or dog at the shelter it will cost you close to $200. This is because the Silicone Valley Human Society provides vaccinations, spays or neuters the animal, puts a microchip in the animal so you and your animal can be reunited in case it gets lost, and more. The money goes toward funding the treatment for your animal because they are nonprofit.

The Silicone Valley Humane Society often receives animals that are strayed or lost. If your animal is lost or ran away and you are looking for it, you should check with them. It is best to make sure your animal has a tag on it and they will hold if for up to 11 days before they put it up for adoption. If it doesn’t have any identification and appears to be a stray animal, they will put it up for adoption or euthanize it after 5 days. Always check with the shelter to see if they have your pet right away.

The Silicone Valley Humane Society is a wonderful place to find your next pet. It is assured your next best friend has received quality care and is healthy.
